Well here it is, my first blog post. I've been meaning to write this for, oh... three months? Better late than never!
Hopefully in the future, I won't have to cram three month's worth of happenings into one post, so please bear with me on the first one.
For starters - I'm sure you are all eagerly awaiting news on how Walter has transitioned from backyard to no-backyard life. The answer... quite well! It didn't take him much time at all to figure out a schedule and learn how to be a big city dog. Fortunately, we live close to an open, dog-friendly area. We go there every morning and night to play fetch and with other dogs. He's a pretty popular fella and loves every dog and person who will pay attention to him. I have found him to be somewhat of a bully, always stealing toys from other dogs. He just loves the chase!
Walter also made fast friends with his new roommate, Ruby. They even cuddle on occasion! Most of their time together consists of Walter chasing her, Ruby smacking him in the face, Walter putting her head in his mouth, and more. Kieran, our other kitty, is still a little annoyed by Walter's boisterous attitude, but he seems to tolerate him from a distance.
As for me, still looking for that perfect job... In the mean time, I've been working at the Chicago Board of Trade, just helping out a business partner of my dad's. It's a fun office with a pretty relaxed attitude. I'm so fortunate to have something to do (and have an income) as I search for the perfect gig. I'm confident the right thing will come along, I just have to be diligent in my search! Hopefully I'll get some good news soon!
Don't be surprised if this blog morphs into somewhat of a food/drink blog... I'm making a point to try lots of new restaurants and foods as I discover the city. In addition, I'm honing my cooking skills, so I'm sure you'll be hearing about new recipes that I try. And the beers.... Yum!
